Oregon boy may have been abducted
By The Associated Press
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — State police are chasing a new lead that an 8-year-old boy who disappeared while hunting for a Christmas tree with his father and grandfather may have been abducted.
State and Klamath County investigators appealed to the public yesterday for information about a late-model, black two-door Honda seen Dec. 5, 1998, the day Derrick Engebretson disappeared.
A male driver may have stopped and asked for directions near Rocky Point, on Upper Klamath Lake about 20 miles northwest of Klamath Falls, and may have been seen struggling with a boy, state police said.
The boy was last seen by his grandfather, who sent him up a hill to join his father. The boy never reached his father, and snow foiled tracking efforts.
